What is the Academy?
The Academy aims to build capacities and facilitate experience-sharing among key stakeholders from SEA in support of a clean and inclusive energy transition. A coaching mechanism will provide attendees with an opportunity to put into practice the knowledge and skills that they acquire during the Academy, with the training focusing on four countries (Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines) that represent around 80% of the region’s total energy share and population.
The Academy will be conducted virtually (with some face-to-face elements) with a total of 25 learning hours being delivered over two months from September to October 2022 (the exact dates are to be communicated in due course). The Academy is jointly organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR as implementing partner), the Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia (CASE), and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
Who can attend?
The Academy is open to professionals involved in the planning, development and implementation of policies, strategies and programmes linked to clean energy and/or green recovery in the Southeast Asia region and is, therefore, most suitable to those with some existing knowledge and experience in these areas. This may include:
- Public sector practitioners such as senior management and technical staff responsible for policy design, conceptualizing and implementing energy projects (including representatives from government Ministries and institutions working on initiatives related to energy, industry, trade, environment, transport and finance)
- Private sector stakeholders from all occupational fields including business associations as well as individual companies
- Civil society and labor union representatives active in the area of clean energy, decent jobs and just transition
- Representatives of national think tanks and education/training institutions that are or would be interested in working on clean energy-related issues
- Representatives from development partners, commercial banks and financiers supporting relevant clean energy and/or green recovery initiatives
How to apply?
To apply to attend the Academy, applicants should complete the following Google Form by Thursday 11th August at 5:00 pm (Central European Summer Time). When completing the Google Form applicants should also attach the following documents:
- Letter of nomination from employer or supervisor
- One-page resume including experience in relevant initiatives
