Mildura Arts Centre (MAC) is about to take Sunraysia audiences on a musical journey back in time to The Songs That Made Memphis.

Performed by the acclaimed Sun Rising, The Songs That Made Memphis is based around the music created by legendary performers such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Rufus Thomas Jr, Howlin’ Wolf and many more – all of whom launched their careers at the famous Sun Record Company in Memphis.

The Songs That Made Memphis will feature at MAC for one night only on Saturday 20 July at 7.30pm.

Councillor for Arts and Culture Jason Modica said the show would suit anyone who loves great musicianship and the music from this magical era.

“Sun Rising come to Mildura following numerous sold-out performances in which they’ve wowed crowds with their incredible musicianship, infectious passion and standout renditions of this timeless music,” Cr Modica said.

“This is also much more than simply a tribute show to these iconic performers – Sun Rising have their own style and perform amazing renditions of these classic songs. This is guaranteed to be a great, high-energy night out not to be missed.”

Sun Rising have drawn widespread praise for their performances across the country:

“This was a show packed full of energy and passion, the set list was out of this world, on-stage banter was hilarious. It was brilliant.” – Beat Magazine

“Sun Rising was programmed by Barry Humphries in the 2015 Adelaide Cabaret Festival and comfortably sold out three shows. Audience reaction to the show was amazing and was a result of the outstanding content and storytelling, delivered by performers who have mastered this genre.” – John Glenn, Executive Producer Adelaide Festival Centre.
