Renewed appeal after fire in Rozelle

Police are reappealing for public information following a fire at a former leagues club in Rozelle last month.

Shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday 7 May 2022, emergency services were called to Darling Street after reports an unoccupied building was well-alight.

The blaze was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW officers a short time later.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze is continuing.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire remain under investigation and it is being treated as suspicious.

As investigations into the incident continue, police would like to speak with two males who may be able to assist with ongoing inquiries.

One male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of thin build, and with black hair. He was wearing a black beanie, a light-coloured hoodie, black shorts, black runners and was carrying a black backpack.

The second male is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of thin build, and with brown hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt, grey trackpants, black shoes and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone who may have witnessed the fire, or who has dashcam footage from the nearby area, is urged to contact Leichhardt police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
