Renowned Indigenous advocate joins Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services The Honourable Yvette D'Ath

A leader in the not-for-profit sector will be joining the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board in the 2022 appointment round.

Fiona Jose’s advocacy, specifically in her role as the CEO of Cape York Partnership, has seen widespread positive effects for Indigenous communities across Australia.

Ms Jose will be joining as the second First Nations member of the nine-person board.

Clive Skarott AM, Tracey Wilson and Jodi Peters will continue on the board, after being reappointed to their positions.

Ongoing board members Luckbir Singh, Greg Nucifora, Christopher Boland, Nancy Long, and Dr Amanda Roberts will remain in their positions until 2024.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said Ms Jose’s extensive success in advocating for Indigenous communities made her an exceptional addition to the board.

“I am so thrilled to welcome Fiona Jose to our Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Board,” Ms D’Ath said.

“Ms Jose has made incredible strides in empowering change for Indigenous communities across Australia.

“Ms Jose also brings a strong track record of effective leadership in multiple roles, including as the CEO of Cape York Partnership.
