“The Federal Government’s decision to end the pause on its international border reopening plan will give the economy a welcome pre-Christmas boost,” Innes Willox, Chief Executive of the national employer association Ai Group said today.
“A return of visa holders with work rights will help alleviate the pressures on many businesses experiencing skill shortages and pockets of labour shortages.
“The decision sends a positive signal to international students planning to arrive in Australia to begin their studies next year.
“It will now be up to some states to further ease their border rules relating to international arrivals to make the most of the border reopening,” Mr Willox said.
