Response to claims by InfluenceMap

The InfluenceMap report released today is incorrect and misleading.

InfluenceMap’s so-called analysis is based on outdated information, biased claims and discredited conspiracy theories peddled by activist groups.

InfluenceMap did not contact the MCA before issuing its latest report.

The MCA is proud to advocate for the interests of its member companies and outlining the challenges of moving to a zero emissions future.

These include ensuring that policies do not produce unintended negative consequences or damage Australia’s mining industry, jobs and regional communities.

The MCA Climate Action Plan released earlier this year shows the strong commitment by the Australian minerals industry to decarbonisation and meaningfully addressing climate change.

The plan outlines how the MCA and its members are taking serious action on climate change as part of the minerals sector’s collective commitment to the Paris Agreement and its goal of net zero emissions both globally and here in Australia.

If InfluenceMap was serious about its calls for transparency, it would provide a full explanation of its commercial linkages and sources of funding.

Until it comes clean, InfluenceMap cannot be taken seriously.
