Emergency Services have received reports that sections of the Victoria Highway are impassable due to flooding from the NT/WA border, through Timber Creek and further along towards Katherine.
Incident Controller Virginia Read said “We are urging motorists to avoid the area and reconsider travel due to heavy rain and rising waters over roads. It is highly dangerous for vehicles to attempt to cross flooded roads and causeways.”
“Always stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways and never to drive into floodwaters. Remember; if it’s flooded, forget it.”
