Road Crash – Hermannsburg

Northern Territory Police are investigating a road crash in the MacDonnell Region overnight.

Just after 7:30pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a call reporting a single-vehicle crash 4.5 kilometres west of Hermannsburg on Larapinta Drive. The incident involved a vehicle carrying four adults and an infant child. The occupants were subsequently transported to a local clinic, suffering minor injuries. All patients were later medevacked to Alice Springs for further medical attention.

Hermannsburg members attended the crash scene, and a crime scene was declared. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was travelling west when it left the road surface and rolled for reasons yet to be determined. None of the passengers, including the infant, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The suspected male driver was identified and subjected to a breath test, which returned a high-range result.

Larapinta Drive is temporarily closed 4 kilometres west of Hermannsburg. Investigations are ongoing.
