South Brisbane police have continued to target dangerous driving behaviours during a four-hour operation at Kangaroo Point on Friday night.
Road policing officers were joined by Mounted Police and Dog Squad as part of Operation Raze which tested more than 830 drivers along River Terrace.
Acting Inspector Bernie Quinlan said more than 20 officers were involved in the operation to detect offences relating to dangerous driving behaviours.
“Almost forty traffic infringement notices were issued for offences such as not wearing a seatbelt, driving unlicensed and unregistered,” he said.
Three women received an infringement for not wearing a seatbelt while travelling in a taxi.
“A simple act of putting on a seatbelt should be second nature but for some people it’s not.
“It’s a simple act that could save your life,” Acting Inspector Quinlan said.
The operation ran from 10pm with officers conducting roadside breath tests on 831 drivers with 3 returning a positive result. Thirty drug tests were conducted with five drivers returning a positive result.
Acting Inspector Quinlan said officers will continue to target dangerous behaviours through Operation Raze during the next few months.
“Anyone who uses the South Brisbane road network should continue to expect to see us anywhere at any time.”
To date, 119 lives have been lost on Queensland’s roads including 20 on roads within the Brisbane region.
