Rockliff’s broken promise is causing business costs to soar

Tasmanian Labor

Small businesses across Tasmania are already feeling the pain from the Rockliff-Ferguson Government’s broken promise to delink Tasmania from the National Electricity Market.

Their broken promise is causing power prices to skyrocket, adding to the cost-of-living crisis at a time when many businesses are doing it tougher than ever.

The power price increase-which took effect from July-will mean shop owners, manufacturers, and business across all industries will be paying more to keep their businesses running.

Cheap, affordable energy is one of the basic ingredients for a strong economy. It’s little wonder with soaring prices that consumer confidence is down and the ever-increasing costs of running a business are hampering growth.

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government needs to start getting the basics right for Tasmania’s businesses and their workers.
