Roy Setter’s 70 years of service saluted

Red Hill Fire Brigade’s Roy Setter devoted a significant amount of time to CFA, Red Hill Fire Brigade and his local community.

Roy Setter's 70 years of service saluted

Roy joined Red Hill Fire Brigade on 18 December 1950, only ten years after the brigade was officially formed. During this time he held the position of 1st lieutenant, communications officer and apparatus officer.

He was awarded the National Medal, 65-year service medal, Honorary Life Member of CFA, Brigade Life Membership, and a Unit Citation for service (Setter family 400 years of service to CFA).

Roy was always around the station and attended all brigade meetings. He manned the station while the firefighters were out and helped clean the hoses when they returned.

Sadly Roy passed away on Tuesday 24 September, bringing to an end four generations of the Setter Family at Red Hill Fire Brigade.

The extended brigade family is deeply saddened by this loss.
