Science meets Parliament 2019 is proud to support Deadly Science, an important initiative expanding access to science for Indigenous kids.
In lieu of gifts for SmP speakers, Science & Technology Australia will donate $20 in the name of each speaker to this cause.
Deadly Science provides remote schools with books and scientific resources, and connects young Indigenous Australians with mentors to inspire their participation in STEM.
Founder of Deadly Science Corey Tutt is a member of STA’s inaugural Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and this week has been named as the 2020 NSW Young Australian of the Year.
Corey works hard to source funds and donated books. So far, he has distributed more than 4,000 books and 70 telescopes to schools nationwide – an amazing achievement to encourage scientific exploration and ignite curious minds.
STA will continue championing for equity, diversity and inclusion. Through these donations, we are helping to bring scientific education to remote communities and empower Indigenous kids to pursue a career in STEM.
We are incredibly proud to support Corey’s work through Deadly Science in removing barriers to participation, and building a thriving and inclusive STEM sector for the future.
