Making sure the Territory is the comeback capital of Australia is the main goal of the Territory Labor Government.
Sealing Territory roads allows more economic activity to occur within our regions.
Recently, the Territory Labor Government has awarded a $4.69 million contract to Downer EDI Works Pty Ltd to deliver annual resurfacing maintenance across various roads, highways and aerodromes in the Northern Region of the Northern Territory.
Investing in sealing our roads means continuing to ensure we provide a reliable and safe road and aerodrome network, especially with the upcoming wet season. Resealing of roads preserves the assets through these preventative maintenance practices.
As part of the 2021-22 schedule of works the contract will be split over the following projects:
Fog Bay Road – 7km of resealing;Litchfield Park Road – 6km of resealing;Point Stuart road – 5km of resealing;Stuart Highway – various sections of resealing;Wadeye Aerodrome – reseal and safety upgrades; andElcho Island Aerodrome – reseal and safety upgrades;
The projects are funded through a range of programs, including Northern Territory road maintenance program, the Australian Governments strengthening and widening program and the remote airstrip upgrade program.
