Hello Dungog Shire.
If you’re part of a community group, sporting club, volunteer organisation, or not-for-profit, this one’s for you. Council’s 2026 Community Small Grants Program is now open, with grants up to $2,500 available to support projects, events, activities, and even small equipment purchases that benefit our community. Whether it’s bringing people together, encouraging participation, improving well-being, or supporting inclusion we’d love to see your ideas. Applications are now open and close on Sunday, 30th of August. So start planning and get your applications in.
Next, Council is looking for passionate members of the community to join our Access and Inclusion Committee. We’re looking for people with lived experience of disability, carers, advocates, and representatives from local organisations who want to help make our shire more accessible and inclusive for everyone. The Committee will play an important role in developing Council’s new Disability Inclusion Action Plan, helping identify barriers and opportunities across our community. If you’d like to make a real difference, we would love to hear from you. Expressions of Interest open on Monday, with all the details available on Council’s website.
Just a last minute reminder that everyone is invited to celebrate NAIDOC Week with us at Dungog Library this morning. Starting at 10 a.m. with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by Uncle Justin Ridgeway in the library grounds. Then from 10:30 a.m. there will be a range of three activities, including didgeridoo and yarn, weaving, story time, and clay activities with Kara Clements, plus light refreshments. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate Aboriginal culture, and recognise this year’s NAIDOC Week theme. We’d love to see you there.
