Second man charged over crash, public place shooting in Lidcombe

A second person has been charged over an alleged crash and public place shooting in Sydney’s south-west earlier this week.

Just before 4.30pm on Sunday (20 November 2022), two men were involved in an altercation on Gallipoli Street at Lidcombe.

During the fight, it’s alleged one of the men fired a number of shots towards the other man and his vehicle.

Both vehicles left the area; however, a short time later were involved in a crash in Homebush, which led to another fight between the pair.

Later that evening, police from Auburn Police Area Command received information about the shooting and attended Gallipoli Place to conduct inquiries.

During a line-search, officers located evidence of a public-place shooting. A number of exhibits were seized for forensic and ballistic examinations.

Following further inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested at Auburn Police Station about 4.45pm on Monday (21 November 2022).

The Auburn man was charged and remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 30-year-old man at Auburn Police Station about 10am today (Friday 25 November 2022).

After his arrest, a search warrant was executed at a business in Peakhurst where police located and seized a Toyota Hilux which will undergo forensic examination.

The local man was charged with predatory driving, affray, and fail to exchange particulars. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 26 November 2022).

Inquiries are continuing.
