Second man charged with murder at Griffith, NSW

A second man has been charged with murder following an investigation into a suspicious death in the state’s Riverina region.

About 2.30am on Friday 11 September 2020, emergency services were called to Sams Place, Griffith, after receiving reports of a concern for welfare.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found a man unconscious in a vehicle, suffering stab wounds.

The 25-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic police.

Detectives from Murrumbidgee Police District, with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Brobenah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives from Murrumbidgee travelled to Lithgow and charged a 21-year-old man with murder last month (Wednesday 25 November 2020). He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, charges were laid against a second man – aged 20 – during a court appearance at Griffith Local Court today (Wednesday 9 December 2020).

The man was charged with murder, robbery in company and assault with intent to rob while in company, cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

Investigations are continuing.
