Second man dies after Minchinbury crash, NSW

The driver of the vehicle involved in a fatal crash in Minchinbury at the weekend has died.

About 3.45pm (Sunday 5 April 2020), emergency services responded to reports of a serious car crash on the Great Western Highway near Minchin Drive.

On arrival, officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command found a Volkswagen Golf GTi that had crashed into a tree.

A 22-year-old man, who was seated in the back of the car, died at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, suffered critical injuries. Two other male passengers, aged 22 and 17, suffered serious injuries. All men were taken to Westmead Hospital.

At 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 8 April), the 19-year-old driver died from his injuries.

A crime scene was established at the scene, and officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
