Second person arrested under Strike Force Lochlomond at Cobar, NSW

A teenager has been charged with break and enter charges following an investigation into multiple break and enters in the state’s Central West.

In May 2020, detectives attached to Central North Police District established Strike Force Lochlomond to investigate four break and enters in the Cobar area.

Police will allege the offences occurred between Thursday 1 August 2019 and Monday 9 March 2020.

In August 2020, officers charged a 20-year-old man in Cobar and he remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, about 9.40am on Wednesday (2 September 2020), detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy at a home in Duffy Drive, Cobar.

The teenager was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He was given conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Wednesday 30 September 2020.

Central North Police District Commander, Superintendent Andrew Hurst, said the arrests are the result of an outstanding investigation by the Criminal Investigators based in Cobar.

“We urge the community to contact the local police if they require advice about making their home safer or to ensure firearm storage security,” Supt Hurst said.
