Sergeant Peter Trow earned the praise of Traffic and Highway Commanders as he hung up the keys after 42 years of service with the NSW Police Force.
Colleagues and family of Sergeant Peter Trow gathered at the Dubbo Police Station today (Friday 12 July 2019) to mark the officer’s retirement, and acknowledge his exemplary service over four decades.
NSW Police Traffic and Highway patrol Commander, Chief Inspector Phillip Brooks, attended the farewell. He spoke highly of the newly-retired officer and his long history with the force.
“In 1977 the state’s road toll was 1268, last year it rounded off to 354, courtesy of the dedication of yourself and others in patrolling our roads and making sure road users are doing the right thing in the hope that we can save their lives and get that toll down even further,” Chief Inspector Brooks said.
“But the challenge we have now is replacing the experience you’ve given us in our organisation.
“It’s great to see so many highway patrol officers here today that will carry that very important road safety legacy forward.
“Thank you for your service.”
Sergeant Trow’s career with the NSW Police Force began in July 1977 as a Probationary Constable, aged 19.
He spent time in the metro areas, before beginning his regional quest at Goulburn, Tamworth, Bourke, Walgett, and Coonabarabran.
Sergeant Trow joined the Mudgee Highway Patrol in 2012, and transferred to Dubbo highway patrol in January 2014.
Over the years he has received numerous commendations, as well as the National medal, the NSW Police Medal, and NSW Police Force Commissioner’s Sesquicentenary Citation to name a few.
Traffic and Highway Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy APM, acknowledged the retired officer and his dedication to the force.
“Peter is a dedicated and committed police officer who throughout his actions demonstrates integrity and strength of character worthy of our proudest traditions,” he said.
“There is no finer duty that I can perform as a police officer than to farewell a serving member of the force who retires after a long and distinguished career.
“I am deeply honoured to be able to represent every member of the NSW Police Force to farewell such a highly regarded and dedicated officer, who it is with deep sincerity that I on behalf of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the NSW Police Force extend Peter our collective thanks and appreciation for his service and commitment to raise safety in NSW.
“Peter is a credit to the police uniform he wears so proudly, and to the community he serves so diligently.”
