Serious bicycle crash at Hervey Bay

Forensic Crash Unit officers are calling for witnesses after a cyclist was hit at Eli Waters this afternoon.

Preliminary investigations indicate around 3.20pm a bicycle was travelling inbound on Hervey Bay Maryborough Road when it was struck by 2010 white Holden Colorado travelling in the same direction between Ibis Boulevard and the Boat Harbour Drive roundabout.

The rider of the bicycle, a 68-year-old Hervey Bay man, has been airlifted to Brisbane in a critical condition.

The driver of the Colorado, a 38-year-old Maryborough woman and her female passenger, were not physically injured in the incident.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam vision to contact police.
