Service improvement for Centrelink and Medicare customers

The Stones Corner Service Centre will provide combined Centrelink and Medicare services from the beginning of February 2020.

This improvement will benefit customers by delivering more government services from a single location.

Staff and services from the Carindale Medicare Service Centre will co-locate to the ‘one-stop-shop’ in Stones Corner.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said the way customers are accessing services is changing.

‘We know people want their interactions with the government to be as easy as possible,’ Mr Jongen said.

‘By establishing these one-stop shops, people can complete their Medicare and Centrelink business from one convenient location.

‘We also understand that customers are increasingly taking advantage of online options to manage their Centrelink and Medicare needs.’

Demand for face-to-face Medicare services is decreasing as people take advantage of other claiming options, such as claiming at the doctors’ surgery.

Currently, 99% of all Medicare claimed services in the Carindale area are lodged digitally.

‘While many people are choosing alternative service options to complete their business, staff will be available to provide face-to-face services to those who require more personalised or intensive support,’ Mr Jongen said.

The Stones Corner Service Centre will be open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
