Seven youths charged following driving incidents southeastern suburbs

Police have charged seven youths with numerous driving and theft offences following incidents across the south eastern suburbs in the early hours of this morning.

The seven youths were arrested in Balwyn North about 4am on Friday 30 June.

It’s alleged that the youths were first spotted in a white BMW wagon and a grey Mercedes, both believed to have been stolen during recent aggravated burglaries.

It’s alleged the cars were reaching speeds of up to 150km/h.

Officers alleged the BMW was dumped in Mullum Mullum Tunnel and occupants continued in the Mercedes.

Stop-sticks were successfully deployed on the BMW in Heidelberg, but the car continued travelling on two tyres towards the Eastern Freeway in Kew, stop sticks were deployed again in Ivanhoe when the Mercedes they were travelling in came to a stop and the youths were arrested.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 16-year-old Hallam girl was charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail and has been remanded to a children’s court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Springvale boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and has been remanded to a children’s court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Fraser Rise girl was charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to a children’s court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Pakenham boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail and has been remanded to a children’s court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Noble Park boy was charged with attempted aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle and bailed to a children’s court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Cranbourne girl was charged with theft of motor vehicle, possess drug of dependence and commit indictable offence whilst on bail and bailed to a children’s court at a later date.
