Seventh charged after officers injured in affray, NSW

A seventh person has been charged after five police officers were injured following a brawl outside a hotel in Potts Point earlier this month.

Police were called to a hotel on Bayswater Road about 11.20pm on Saturday 19 October 2019, responding to reports of a disturbance after a man was removed from the premises.

An affray broke out involving a large group of people, with officers from Kings Cross, Surry Hills, and Sydney City Police Area Commands assisted by the Public Order and Riot Squad.

Five officers were taken to hospital where they were treated for various injuries including a fractured elbow, torn bicep, dislocated jaw, and a fractured nose.

Six people have already been charged with a string of offences including assault police causing grievous bodily harm and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 21-year-old man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice today (Monday 11 November 2019), for two counts of assault police in the execution of duties.

He is expected to appear at The Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 7 January 2020.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
