Shellharbour Announced As Top Tourism Awards Finalist

Don’t miss your chance to vote!

Shellharbour has done it again! For the second year in a row, the City has been named as a finalist in the 2024 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards.

The awards celebrate the unwavering spirit of communities and showcase the true value of tourism and the visitor economy to towns in NSW.

Mayor of Shellharbour City Chris Homer is encouraging people to show their love for Shellharbour by casting their vote.

“I’m not surprised at all that Shellharbour has been named as a finalist again. We only narrowly missed out on the top gong last year, so I encourage everyone to vote for our amazing city,” Mayor Homer said.

“Shellharbour is blessed to have pristine beaches and Lake Illawarra in the eastern part of our city, and the beautiful hinterland, rainforest and escarpment in our west. It was only a few months ago that The Farm Beach was officially named the second best beach in Australia and the best in NSW.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have Shellharbour Airport as a convenient gateway to the region and of course, the jewel in the crown, Shellharbour Marina. We also have a thriving restaurant scene and an exciting events calendar that draws more and more visitors to our region each year, including the award-winning Enchanted Forest which is returning this month.

“Our local government area punches above its weight in terms of natural assets and major infrastructure. We know that visitors to our city are staying longer and spending more, experiencing everything that Shellharbour has to offer. This is fantastic for our visitor economy, local businesses and job creation,” Mayor Homer said.

The winners will be announced at the 2024 LGNSW Destination and Visitor Economy Conference in Wagga Wagga from 28 to 30 May, with the gold medallists having the honour of representing the state at the National Tourism Awards.

Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 13 May, 2024.
