Sixth man charged after ongoing investigation into drug supply, NSW

Organised Crime Squad detectives have charged a sixth man as part of an ongoing joint investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs by an alleged organised criminal syndicate.

In November 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, together with the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC), established Strike Force Alverton to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs across the state.

So far during the investigation, strike force detectives have arrested five men – aged 35, 29, 22 and two aged 23. They were all charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, officers arrested a 27-year-old man at a service station at Eagle Vale about 8am today (Tuesday 18 August 2020).

Investigators seized two mobiles phone, a tablet and $650 cash during a search of the man.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, do act intending to pervert the course of justice and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of 4.5kg of MDMA – with an estimated potential street value of nearly $1 million – in February this year.

It will be further alleged the man supplied false legal documents to police in July this year.

The Kearns man was refused bail to appear via AVL at Campbelltown Local Court today (Tuesday 18 August 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Alverton are continuing.
