Small businesses across the region that have been significantly affected by drought, fire, or the COVID-19 pandemic will soon be given some needed financial assistance.
As part of the $900,000 NSW Government Drought Stimulus Funding, Council is offering fifty $2000 grants to eligible businesses that need start up assistance, are wanting to expand, or needing to improve their online services .
Interim Administrator Viv May says the grants couldn’t come at a better time.
“The drought has taken a huge toll on small businesses across the region, and now there is the added burden of the bushfires and COVID-19,” he said.
“Through these grants, Council hopes to ease some of the unforeseen financial strain that many people are facing during this period.”
Businesses will need to meet a specific criteria, and all applications will be assessed by an independent panel.
“Any locally owned and operated business within the Armidale LGA should apply if they have seen significant financial downturn as a result of drought, fire or the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr May.
“These grants will be a welcome help to small businesses who have faced the brunt of the past few years.”
Applications must be made online between October 2 and October 30, and successful applicants will be notified by Monday 16November.
