COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,781 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 16,909 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two men in their 70s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 227 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 121 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 103 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and three have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 21 June has found 74.6% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 8,005 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 14.5% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,489 PCR tests were positive, while 1,292 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    1,607 PCR test results not included in yesterday’s report have been added to the total PCR test number.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% havereceived their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73.3% ofeligible South Australiansand 68.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
