COVID Cases in SA
There have been 2,901 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 18,091 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 70s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.
There are 244 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including six people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 133 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 86 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 18 have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling from 1 to 18 May has found 98.5% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 9,061 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 21.4% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,543 PCR tests were positive, while 1,358 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 95.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.8% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.8% of eligible South Australians and 67.5% of South Australians aged 16+.
