COVID Cases in SA
There have been 3,816 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 25,672 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 50s, a man in his 50s, a woman in her 70s, a man in his 70s, and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 217 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 107 people had received three or more vaccine doses and 110 people are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling from 1 to 7 May has found 100% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 10,987 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 6.6% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,014 PCR tests were positive, while 1,802 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Currently 95.5% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.6% have received their second dose.
Boosters have been administered to 72% of eligible South Australians and 66.3% of South Australians aged 16+.
