COVID Cases in SA
There have been 3,773 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 26,310 active cases in South Australia.
Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.
There are 246 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU, with three of those requiring a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 126 people had received three or more vaccine doses and 120 people are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling from 1 to 7 May has found 100% of samples taken were BA.2.

COVID testing
Yesterday, 8,873 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 4.2% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,751 PCR tests were positive, while 2,022 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 95.7% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.7% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.2% of eligible South Australians and 66.6% of South Australians aged 16+.
