COVID cases in SA

There have been 664 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 7,360 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 259 people with COVID-19 in hospital*, including eight people in ICU, with two ventilated.

*Due to changes underway within hospital reporting systems, today’s hospitalisation numbers have been collated using an alternative reporting method, which will be in place until later this month. Associated vaccination data is not available.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 7.4% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 90.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 4,434 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 16.5% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 323 PCR tests were positive, while 341 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
