South Australia Covid update as at 24 December 2021

There have been 688 new cases of COVID-19 reported today. There have been 2,917 cases reported in South Australia to date.

Today’s cases include 47 children, 34 teenagers, 301 women aged between 18 and 96 and 306 men aged between 18 and 88.

Of these, 66 cases acquired their infection in South Australia and are known contacts of a positive case, 24 cases acquired their infection in South Australia with the contact unknown, five cases acquired their infection interstate, and 593 cases are under investigation.

Two men in their 50s and 60s and two women in their 90s are at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), while a man in his 30s remains ventilated in the RAH’s Intensive Care Unit. One woman in her 30s is at the Flinders Medical Centre and two children are at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Of the hospitalised cases, four are fully vaccinated, one is partially vaccinated, and three are unvaccinated.

We encourage anyone who has been out in the community to monitor closely for symptoms and get tested as soon as soon as they appear.
