COVID Cases in SA

There have been 3,169 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 22,127 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 226 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 10 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 102 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 109 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 15 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 18 May has found 98.5% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 9,468 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 19% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,776 PCR tests were positive, while 1,393 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.8% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.8% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.6% of eligible South Australians and 67.2% of South Australians aged 16+.
