COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,789 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 17,290 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm two men in their 60s, one woman in her 90s and one woman aged over 100, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 230 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 124 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 84 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 22 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 23 May has found 98.8% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,696 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 10.8% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,398 PCR tests were positive, while 1,391 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Today’s vaccination figures are unavailable at time of publication, yesterday’s figures are below.
    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.7% of eligible South Australians and 67.9% of South Australians aged 16+.
