COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,197 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 17,329 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm one man in his 90s and woman in her 60s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 232 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including eight people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 128 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 86 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 18 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 23 May has found 98.8% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 5,952 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 22.6% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,207 PCR tests were positive, while 990 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
