COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,072 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 19,769 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm three women in their 90s and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 267 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 150 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 79 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 38 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 68.6% of samples taken were BA.2, 11.7% of samples taken were BA.4 and 12.6% of samples taken were BA.5.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 9,046 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 55.3% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,143 PCR tests were positive, while 1,929 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% havereceived their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73.4% ofeligible South Australiansand 68.9% of South Australians aged 16+.
