COVID cases in SA

There have been 615 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 3,628 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 80s, a woman in her 90s and three men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 14 May 2022 and 4 September 2022.

There are 95 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including six people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 72 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 21 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and two have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 2.2% of samples analysed were BA.2, 5.6% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 89.9% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 3,585 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 73.5% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 268 PCR tests were positive, while 347 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.9% of eligible South Australians and 70.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
