The health and safety of Tasmanians is my first priority.
On Monday, we moved swiftly to declare South Australia a medium risk jurisdiction, meaning we currently have people in our State quarantining who have been in South Australia in the past 14 days.
While South Australian health authorities have moved quickly to contain the spread, they have today announced they are leaving nothing to chance and will be implementing from midnight tonight a statewide six-day lockdown.
This means South Australia will remain classified as a medium risk jurisdiction for the time being and we are asking South Australians in our State, to please follow the rules and make plans to safely head home, or to stay in quarantine for 14 days after leaving South Australia at either a suitable premises or in a Government mandatory quarantine hotel.
South Australia has identified three places as posing a significant risk, meaning we are issuing the following advice to anyone in our state who has been in the following locations at the specified times;
- Woodville Pizza bar, from 6 – 16 November. Anyone who visited the pizza bar or got takeaway, including delivery, must self-isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing. This also applies to anyone who has a family or household member who purchased food from this premises during this time;
- Lyell McEwin Hospital – Emergency Department only from 5:30am 13 November – 8am 14 November. Anyone who visited between these times is asked to self isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing; and
- The Aquadome, 1 Crockerton Road, from 14 November 11am-1:30am. Anyone who visited between these times are asked to self isolate and call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to arrange testing.
I’m sorry for these circumstances, but just as the South Australian Government makes swift moves to get on top of the situation early, we must also.
Again, I ask that we all continue to do the right thing, remember, wash your hands, cover your coughs and sneezes, if you’re unwell stay at home and don’t go to work, and if you display even the mildest symptoms, please, get a test.
