Royal Darwin Hospital, in partnership with Activate Darwin, is staking its claim for Darwin’s next mural masterpiece, with an expression of interest to be released to produce a large scale artwork on the eastern wall of the RDH hospital Tower.

The final design will reflect the Royal Darwin Hospital building as a place of birth, healing, life and death and will represent the community the hospital serves.

Dedication from the hardworking staff at Royal Darwin Hospital has gotten this project up and running.

The artwork will span a surface area of 145m high and 12m wide, enhancing the amenity and providing a more welcoming environment.

A selection panel, representing the arts, Aboriginal and Health communities, will be assembled to assess and determine the winning design.

The project will engage community stakeholders including Larrakia representatives to ensure the final product is culturally appropriate and represents the community.

The Expression of Interest will open on Tuesday 14 June for a two week period, closing on Tuesday 28 June.

It is expected the artwork installation will be completed in September 2022.
