This spring, 1,151 bachelor’s program students, 1,682 master’s program students, 30 professional master’s program students, and 264 doctoral program students were admitted to the Institute. Of these students, 345 joined Tokyo Tech from abroad.

Participating in the entrance ceremonies were President Kazuya Masu, the Institute’s seven other members of the board, Tokyo Tech Alumni Association President Kiyoto Ido (Class of 1972, Department of Mathematics), and alumnus Yoshikazu Oshimi, chairman and representative director of Kajima Corporation (Class of 1973, Department of Architecture and Building Engineering).

To ensure safety, guardians, family members, and friends of Tokyo Tech’s newest students were requested to experience the entrance ceremonies online via a livestream. Between the morning and afternoon ceremonies, Masu also greeted and answered questions from family members during an online webinar.

During his welcome address, Masu spoke about the various Tokyo Tech facilities and platforms that encourage students to pursue a proactive university life, and highlighted the Institute’s lasting dedication in fields such as ammonia synthesis and catalyst research. “I invite you to investigate actively the areas that interest you, and to draw inspiration from the achievements of past Tokyo Tech members,” Masu stated.
