St Lukes incident update – Police seek vehicle of interest

As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend, Auckland City CIB:

Police are releasing details of a vehicle of interest, as enquiries continue into a road rage incident in St Lukes last night.

We are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of this hatchback or the occupants to contact Police urgently.

That vehicle is a 2009 grey Mazda Axela with the registration NGL15.

Police urge the public to exercise caution and to not approach this vehicle or its occupants.

If you see this vehicle, please call 111 immediately.

An investigation team has been formed and enquiries are continuing into last night’s incident.

We are concerned at the level of reckless violence displayed following what was initially an incident on the motorway.

The victim in this case fortunately has not required surgery. She is expected to be discharged later today.

Police are ensuring there is support in place for the family, who were travelling together in the vehicle.

They are all understandably incredibly shaken by what occurred last night and it is some luck that we are not dealing with a homicide investigation.

Our team’s priority is to locate that vehicle and its occupants, and the community can be reassured we are treating this incident seriously.

We would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the initial incident or any of the subsequent incidents ending in St Lukes last night.

This incident began around 9.50pm on the Southern Motorway around Mt Wellington, travelling through to St Lukes Road, via the North-Western Motorway around 10pm.
