State Government unlocks land to boost Kalgoorlie-Boulder aged care accommodation

  • 15.6 hectares of Crown land unlocked for Pringle Village aged care expansion
  • Four-stage development to provide an extra 200 houses and central facilities
  • Village offers contemporary independent living in Kalgoorlie-Boulder
  • Lands Minister John Carey today announced the transfer of 15.6 hectares of Crown land in Kalgoorlie-Boulder for a major expansion of aged care accommodation in the region.

The contribution of land worth $6.6 million will allow for a fivefold increase in Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s aged care residential stock at Pringle Village to meet the high demand for independent living options in the region.

Pringle Village operator Goldfields Masonic Homes Inc will be granted a management order for the land, with plans for a four-stage development to expand aged care living at the village from 49 units to 250 units; and deliver new common resident facilities.

Pringle Village opened in 2019, providing contemporary independent living in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The 2.1 hectare site includes clusters of aged-friendly units with common areas including barbecues, raised garden beds, a giant chess board and a mini golf green to facilitate a strong sense of community.

As stated by Lands Minister John Carey:

“My number one focus is to look at how we can utilise our lands assets to drive positive outcomes for our community, and this is a fantastic example of how our Government is supporting Kalgoorlie and the broader Goldfields region.

“This is a significant parcel of land that will allow Goldfields Masonic Homes to significantly increase their footprint and expand the number of aged care units available in the Kalgoorlie.

“The $6.6 million land contribution is in addition to $17.6 million allocated in the recent State Budget for the development of new residential and industrial land in Kalgoorlie.”

As stated by Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent:

“Our Government is committed to delivering better housing outcomes for the people of Kalgoorlie, and the last few months we have made significant investments worth nearly $13 million to release more land for residential and aged care accommodation.

“We’re currently progressing works to release a further 60 lots in the Greenview Estate, and along with the 15.6 hectares of land at Pringle Village, will provide a real boost to housing availability in Kalgoorlie.”

As stated by Mining and Pastoral MLC Kyle McGinn:

“This a fantastic outcome for our community and is the culmination of a lot of hard work and cooperation between our Government and Goldfields Masonic Homes.

“Providing this land gives Goldfield Masonic Homes the certainty needed to get on with the job of delivering more aged care accommodation in Kalgoorlie, which will be an important element of addressing some of the housing challenges being faced.”
