Statement from Shadow Minister for Education

Liberal Party Victoria

The participation by students in the Schools Strike for Palestine is a disappointing outcome that will further divide the Victorian community during an already challenging time.

The best place for Victorian students to learn about complex geopolitical affairs and engage in a productive and respectful contest of ideas is in the classroom.

With the deeply concerning rise in antisemitism in Melbourne, it is disappointing that the divisive and political nature of this event was not more clearly articulated to Victorian students and school communities over recent weeks.

The Liberals and Nationals renew our call for calm and unity across schools and the broader community during this time.
