Statement on COVID-19 restrictions

The City welcomes further easing of coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions for regional Victoria announced by the Victorian Government today.

Under the changes, some of which come into effect for regional Victoria at 11.59pm tonight, Greater Geelong hospitality venues will be permitted to serve a maximum of 70 people outdoors and 40 indoors.

The City has already been working with local businesses to optimise the use of outdoor spaces for dining through efficient assessment of proposals for alfresco dining permits and will continue to work closely with local businesses looking to activate or extend their outdoor spaces in light of the increase in numbers of people permitted to dine.

City officers will now also evaluate the changes announced today and their impact on our community and relevant areas of the City’s operations and services.

The City urges community members to continue to adhere to restrictions and maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from others, wear a face mask when leaving home and to practise good hygiene.
