Greensborough Highway Patrol officers intercepted two female drivers driving at excessive speed in Reservoir and Thomastown overnight.
The first incident took place on Boldrewood Parade in Reservoir when a woman’s speed was checked at 101km/h in a 60 zone just before 1am.
The 18-year-old Lalor woman, who had her younger brother and sister in the car with her, was issued a $620 infringement notice and her licence was suspended for six months.
The second incident took place on the Metropolitan Ring Road when a driver’s speed was checked at 131km/h in a 100 zone at 3.30am.
The 25-year-old Mill Park woman provided a positive sample following a roadside drug test and a licence check revealed that her licence was suspended.
She is expected to be charged on summons with speeding, drug driving and drive while suspended.
These intercepts form part of Operation Scoreboard, a state-wide focus on keeping our community safe on the roads.
The four-day operation aims to reduce road trauma, including the number of lives lost and injuries on our roads.
During this time motorists can expect to have their vehicles scanned, be breath tested, drug tested and speed-checked by police.
The operation commenced at 12.01am Thursday 26 September and concludes at 11.59pm on Sunday 29 September 2019.
