Stolen car and weapons located in Melbourne CBD

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested three men after an allegedly stolen car, firearm and machete were located in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.

It is alleged three men were outside a business on A’Beckett Street when a member of the public spotted a firearm about 11.30am.

The men returned to an allegedly stolen car where police located a firearm on one of them.

A 24-year-old Cairnlea man, a 23-year-old Clayton man and a 27-year-old Clayton man were arrested at the scene.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly found a machete.

Two men arrived at the scene before one of them allegedly assaulted a police officer.

The 24-year-old Officer man was arrested in relation to the assault.

The second man, a 21-year-old from Derrimut, was arrested for unrelated matters.

There were no injuries.

The five men are assisting police with their enquiries.
