Stolen Car Crashes At Mitchell Park

Six youths have been arrested after two stolen cars were spotted in the southern suburbs.

Just after 12.30am on Monday 1 April, a resident at Coromandel Valley reported that his car had been stolen.

A short time later the stolen Mitsubishi Pajero was spotted by PolAir travelling on Shepherds Hill Road in company with a second stolen vehicle, a white Volkswagen Amarok utility.

The cars travelled onto Sturt Road where the Amarok utility was successfully spiked but continued to drive from the area.

The Pajero continued on the wrong side of Sturt Road and collided with a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Marion Road at Mitchell Park.

The occupants in the Pajero were arrested and taken to hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, a 15-year-old boy from Albert Park, and the two passengers, a 13-year-old boy from Davoren Park and a 16-year-old boy from Brooklyn Park were all charged with serious criminal trespass and theft of a motor vehicle. The driver was further charged with causing serious harm by careless use of a vehicle.

The driver and single occupant of the Corolla, a 51-year-old woman from Coromandel Valley, suffered leg and arm injuries and was taken to hospital where she is being treated.

The Amarok was followed by PolAir and was located dumped just before 1.10am on Price Street at Melrose Park. The area was cordoned and Dog Operations Unit was called in to assist with the search of the suspects.

Three people were arrested a short time later, a 13-year-old boy from Ottoway, a 14-year-old boy from Port Adelaide and a 15-year-old boy from Henley Beach South. They have all been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and breach of bail.

The Volkswagen was stolen overnight on Saturday 30 March from a Hallet Cove address.
