Police are investigating an incident that occurred in Belmont last night (29 April 2020), where a stolen vehicle hit the carport of a home.
Sometime between 6pm and 6.45pm, a gold Mitsubishi Magna sedan was stolen from a home located on Hardey Road, Belmont.
The Mitsubishi sedan was travelling on Daly Street in Belmont between 6.20pm and 6.45pm, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and travelled into the yard of a home before hitting the support pillar of a carport. The carport collapsed onto the vehicle.
Damage to the carport caused by the crash is estimated at $50,000.
The occupants of the Mitsubishi fled the scene on foot. No-one in the home was injured.
Police are asking anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the crash, or has CCTV or dash-cam vision of the area of Daly Street and Hardey Road between 6pm and 7pm to come forward.
