Stolen vehicle crash at Townsville 21 July

Three teenagers have been charged after the allegedly stolen vehicle they were travelling in crashed into another car at Townsville today.

It will be alleged at 11.17am police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on High Street at Garbutt. The Toyota Corolla with three occupants, then drove onto Crauford Street through to Ingham Road and Sturt Street.

The vehicle then headed outbound on Boundary Street and allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Charters Towers Road, colliding with two other cars travelling on Charters Towers Road.

Three teenagers ran from the vehicle however were located by police a short time later.

A 16-year-old Kelso girl has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of possession of dangerous drug (cannabis) and possession of utensil (water pipe). She will appear at the Townsville Magistrates Court on July 28.

A 14-year-old Home Hill boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow, July 22

A 14-year-old Palm Island girl will be dealt with under the provisions of the youth justice act.

No one was injured in the crash.
