Storm clean up underway

The clean up job is continuing after Monday’s wild weather brought minor flash flooding and wind damage to the municipality.

Horsham Rural City Council received 17 after-hours call outs relating to damage to Council property.

Many trees succumbed to the high winds and rain and it will take some time for the debris and damage to be cleared.

The storm delivered 100km/h gusts to some areas and up to 40mm of rain in the space of a few hours.

There were also several reports of lost dogs, and our Community Safety Team has been busy working to reunite pets with their owners.

There have also been road closures due to flash flooding. Many have now re-opened and depot crews have been busy updating signage.

People can report storm damage to Council property, trees, parks, fields, roads and flooding stormwater via an online service request.

For assistance on private property, people should contact the SES on 132 500.

Regularly scheduled outdoor maintenance such as some mowing and weed spraying in certain areas will likely be pushed back as a result.
